SUMMARY:Art Out Side: Radiant Contours: LED Installation
DESCRIPTION:Radiant Contours isa 9 foot tall outdoor light sculpture that transforms real-world topography into an illuminated vertical landscape. Its surface is made of a 10 by 10 grid of 3D printed terrain tiles\, representing the contours of Southwest British Columbia .As light pulses through the layered forms\, the landscape appears to breathe\, animated by shifting patterns that echo wind and water. The sculpture stands on a 3 by 7 foot cedar platform that houses its 110 volt to 12 volt DC power system. Weather-resistant and self-contained\, it installs quickly and requires only a standard outlet. Radiant Contours is designed to be touched. Viewers are encouraged to explore the terrain with their hands\, engaging with the work through texture\, light\, and movement. At night\, it becomes a quiet beacon\, offering a moment of calm and connection in public space. Ideal for parks\, walkways\, or transitional urban sites\, the piece transforms overlooked areas into immersive experiences. The work is part of an ongoing exploration into spatial storytelling\, using digital fabrication and geographic data to create sensory connections to place. Radiant Contours turns physical data into atmosphere\, and public space into poetry. \nAbout the Artist: \nNeil creates objects and spaces tailored to unique people and places. He work as an industrial designer\, fabricator\, concept artist\, and educator. Inspired by the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest\, his practice blends technology and art to shape immersive\, spatial experiences. Neil graduated from Emily Carr University in 2016 with a degree in Industrial Design\, he draws influence from local landscapes and communities.  His work often uses topography and GIS to offer viewers a new perspective\, lifting them above ground level into new realms.

SUMMARY:Art Out Side: Sonic Bloom
DESCRIPTION:Sonic Bloom is a lively interactive installation that transforms movement and sound into the growth of digital flora based on native plants local to B.C. It offers an opportunity to reflect on our connection to the nature in our own backyard. The piece uses a body tracking camera to allow participants to interact directly with a large-scale projection\, ideally outdoors. Everyone will grow a unique flowering plant native to B.C.\, combining into a garden that evolves with their every movement. The music of Ruby Singh’s Polyphonic Garden will fill the air and activate the flowers as they pulse with each beat. Singh created this Western Canadian Music Award winning album over the course of two years of travels to six biomes throughout so-called “British Columbia.” Using biosonification\, Singh raises songs from indigenous flora and fungi\, transforming bio-electricity into midi data to inform pitch and rhythm. The melodies are then mixed with field recordings and unique instrumentation. What emerges are complexly layered sonic ecologies of connection to the natural world\, where Singh imagines how we might move towards right relations with these generous lands\, waters and skies. The installation will culminate with alive performance by Ruby Singh. Grounded in local ecologies\, Sonic Bloom is a multisensory immersive and interactive experience that connects participants to nature through their bodies. Their active participation in the piece reminding them of their role in shifting our relationship with the more than human world all around us. \n‍ \nAbout the Artist: \nBiome is the collective multisensory\, immersive work of Ruby Singh and John Desnoyers-Stewart grounded in rewilding human relationships with the more-than-human. His creativity crosses the boundaries of music\, poetry\, photography and film engaging with mythos\, memory\, justice and fantasy.  In 2022 Singh received the Lieutenant Governor’s Jubilee Award for excellence in Art and Music. In 2023 he received his inaugural Juno nomination and he won both the WCMA award for best Global Music Artist of the Year and BC Touring Council’s  Artist of the Year. Singh believes in art’s ability to reimagine futures\, to repurpose aesthetic freedoms toward civil and environmental justice. John Desnoyers-Stewart is an interdisciplinary artist/researcher and postdoctoral fellow at the University of British Columbia’s (UBC) Critical Future Studio/Lab. SUMMARY:Art Out Side: 5 on A String
DESCRIPTION:5 on a String has been picking and singing bluegrass music all around the Pacific Northwest for over thirty years. We have a family-friendly show with plenty of hot picking and fiddle tunes to entertain just about any audience. Seniors love the old time theme and harmony singing\, and even the kids are attracted to the staccato sounds of the banjo and fiddle. We play and sing in the old time radio show style\, and we’ll get their toes tapping and hands clapping… Guaranteed. It’s been wonderful to perform all across B.C.\, Alberta\, and Washington state over the years and the friends\, fans\, and relationships we have shared are priceless to us. We’re thrilled that we can bring our brand of mountain music to Port Moody this summer. \nFollow 5 on a String online: \nWebsite: 5onastring.com \nInstagram: @fiveonastring

SUMMARY:Art Out Side: The Art of Letting Go
DESCRIPTION:What if the emotional baggage we carry had a physical form? This performance invites audiences to witness pop-up performances where solo artists and pairs appear unexpectedly across Port Moody\, each carrying helium balloons that symbolize their personal burdens. Through stylized physical theatre\, performers embody narratives unique to their characters—stories of loss\, fear\, overwhelm\, control\, and the struggle to let go. These spontaneous appearances build toward a culminating group performance in a shared space\, where all participants gather and\, in a final gesture\, attempt to release their balloons—an act of communal letting go. Ideally\, the final performance space will double as an interactive installation where members of the public can write down something they wish to let go of\, attach it to a balloon\, and add it to a growing sky of balloons. Over (potentially) the weekend\, the space will transform into a collaborative artwork built by the community—an ever-shifting sculpture that reflects the baggage we carry around with us in our everyday lives. This work brings together art\, theatre\, narrative\, and participation to ask: What do we carry? And what happens when we choose to let go? \nFollow No One’s Watching: \nWebsite: no-oneswatching.com \nInstagram: @noones_watching \n  \nLOCATIONS* \nPoMoArts \n2425 St Johns Street\, Port Moody \n‍ \nGrit Cafe \n50 Queens St\, Port Moody \n‍ \nLittle Beans \n70 Kyle St\, Port Moody \n‍ \nQueen’s Plaza \n49 Queens St\, Port Moody \n‍ \n* Happening simultaneously at different locations

DESCRIPTION:TIME \n2:00PM – 7:00PM (Shannon Thiesen\, Alex Allen) \n4:00PM – 7:00PM (Bev Bakka) \n  \nDraw Me\nIn the spirit of forest fun\, stop by and Bev will sketch you. In less than five minutes she will create a little line drawing that may capture your essence. Then you can dab a bit of water colour paint on the drawing\, bringing it to life. \n‍ \nAbout the Artist: \nYou may find yourself captured in a comic-like line drawing if you frequent local parks and businesses Port Moody. Using a fountain pen\, Bev sketches in Port Moody and area cafes\, hiking trails\, breweries\, shops and community events. She uses her line drawing technique to notice detail\, to remember people and their uniqueness. She has found that by drawing people\, she is more likely to notice what makes them tick. Adding some rosy cheeks\, some lovely yellow sunshine\, or some West Coast nature\, complete the quick little caricature-like sketch. Bev combines her two obsessions; sketching and music\, by drawing the delightful musicians at Rocky Point Spirits and Brave Brewery Open Mic nights. There is always a surprise or two to capture there! She knows that drawing people slows her down\, making her notice how special each person is. Along with providing the novelty she craves\, the practise aids in respecting everyone. It’s tough to judge after spending a few minutes of sketching what you see. SUMMARY:Art Out Side: Eroded Origins: Speak For Me!
DESCRIPTION:Eroded Origins: *Speak for Me! If the Forest Could Speak… What Would It Say? Overview: *Speak for Me!* is an interactive climate art workshop that invites the public into a creative dialogue on environmental stewardship. Having traveled across several BC communities\, this evolving installation uses art to spark reflection and inspire action on the climate crisis. Objective: Participants are encouraged to explore their relationship with the natural world and express their thoughts through art. Centered around the prompts *“If the forest could speak\, what would it say?”* and *“What is your age?”*\, the workshop gathers community voices to be embedded into a digital artwork symbolizing the fragile balance between humanity and nature. \n• Participants reflect on the prompts and share their thoughts • Age is collected to explore generational perspectives Symbolic Representation:• Ages are represented as tree rings\, linking voices to the lifespans of forests (work-in-progress) \nResponses will be integrated into a growing digital artwork series that fosters empathy\, connection\, and climate awareness through shared artistic expression. Future Development: From 2026 onward\, the series will expand to explore the elements of water\, fire\, and air. Why It Matters: As wildfires increasingly destroy homes\, habitats\, and communities across Canada and beyond\, *Speak for Me!* offers a creative platform to engage the public in urgent environmental conversations. \nA fourth-generation Chinese-Canadian\, Garrett Andrew Chong’s artistic journey began with honours from Emily Carr – mid 80’s. \nHis evolution from visual communications to digital art has consistently explored themes of light\, from early b/w infrared film to capturing unseen light with HDR technology. His current works reflect a spiritual resonance with natural elements\, shaping an illuminating narrative through the spectrum of climate art.

Certainly from drawing all my home walls as a kid and the last few years\, I have dedicated my life and soul to the visual arts. I have been creating photographs and paintings ever since and besides the exhibitions and publications about my work around the world\, this has been my way of living\, my job\, my therapy and to let art define who I am and what I want to say and express. I feel I am an infinite creative soul always looking for more to give to society and make social conscience through my pieces. Since I became a mother my artistic cells\, exploded even more and my commitment to make a better world and great pieces with your is stronger than ever.
