SUMMARY:PMFS Presents the Iranian Film "Hit the Road"
DESCRIPTION:Hit the Road follows a chaotic\, tender family on a road trip across Iran through a rugged landscape\, fussing over the sick dog and getting on each others’ nerves. Only the mysterious older brother is quiet. A beautifully acted drama with steadily cumulative force\, Hit the Road uses one family’s journey to make trenchant observations about society as a whole. What really makes Hit the Road fly\, however\, is the fizzy interplay between the superb core actors. No offence is meant by noting parallels with a similarly nomadic family in Little Miss Sunshine. To be a passenger alongside these nervous voyagers\, as they clash\, tease and cherish each other on the way to this strange and terrible fork in their lives\, is to be a very fortunate moviegoer indeed. \nRoad Trip / Comedy / Drama\nRuntime 1 h 33 m\nIran\n2021\nPG-13 \nTrailer for Hit the Road \n\n\n\n\n\n\n$ 5.00 plus $ 5 annual membership. CASH ONLY.

SUMMARY:ADFF x NEMESIS SUNDAY MATINÉE: MY PLAYGROUND
DESCRIPTION:Previously Sold Out – Sunday Matinée returns with Kaspar Astrup Schröder’s “My Playground”\, presented by Nemesis and ADFF. \n\nOCT 26. 11AM-12PM OR 2PM-3PM \nFollowing a sold-out event last month\, the Architecture and Design Film Festival and Nemesis Coffee are bringing another exclusive Sunday Matinée screening to the Gallery Theatre at TriCity Pavilion. \n“My Playground” explores the way Parkour and Free running is changing the perception of urban space and how the spaces and buildings they are moving on are changing them. Mainly set in Copenhagen the film follows Team JiYo as they explore the city and encounter the obstacles it presents. Award winning architect Bjarke Ingels\, founder of BIG Architects\, is fascinated by the way Team JiYo convey architecture and takes the team to his buildings\, to explore and unfold their skills\, that may be just as groundbreaking as the architecture itself. The film travels around the world from Denmark to Japan\, United States\, United Kingdom\, and China to explore where the urban mobility is heading. Team JiYo has a dream of making the biggest dedicated parkour park in the world\, but isn’t parkour and free running supposed to be in the city and not in a fixed environment? Kaspar Astrup Schröder set out to more closely examine the way that traceurs interact with architecture – honing in on parkour and urban mobility in modern cities spaces via Team JiYo and the people that determine how the space is shaped within our cities. \nAs part of the Matinée screening\, guests will be served a Nemesis coffee and a pastry included in your ticket purchase\, as well as a limited-edition gift\, exclusive to the event. \nJoin us for the exclusive screening and experience an extraordinary journey into one of the most visionary works of residential architecture ever imagined. \nBy purchasing a ticket\, you agree to the terms and conditions and you acknowledge that the personal information you have provided may be collected\, used and disclosed by or on behalf of the members of the Marcon Group of Companies in accordance with Marcon Development’s Privacy Policy.

SUMMARY:The Dancing Okami Lady Kaga (レディ加賀)
DESCRIPTION:The Dancing Okami\nLady Kaga (レディ加賀) \nTraditional Japanese hospitality meets modern dance \nWhen her childhood dreams of becoming a tap dancer are dashed\, Yuka decides to return to her hometown of Kaga and follow her mother’s footsteps of becoming an okami\, or the traditional manager of a Japanese inn. However\, Yuka’s new career path proves to be more challenging than it seems: her clumsiness makes the various training exercises difficult\, and with Kaga Onsen facing a financial crisis\, the pressure’s on to attract visitors to the area. In a last-ditch effort to save the town\, Yuka devises a plan to choreograph a dance and perform with her fellow budding okami at the local charity event. With no tap dancing experience amongst the group and time running out\, can the dancing okami put on a show to remember? \nInspired by Kaga’s real-life tourism campaign\, The Dancing Okami was brought to life with the cooperation of the town’s local community and tourism association. SUMMARY:Port Moody Film Society August Indoor/Outdoor Film Event: French Comedy!
DESCRIPTION:Indoor / Outdoor Summer Double Feature!\n\n\nFrench Comedy Night!\nSATURDAY August 9th\, 2025\n\nFirst film Indoors:\nThe Intouchables – August 9th\, 2025\, 7:00 PM (early start time!!)\n\nA rich quadriplegic\, living in a mansion in Paris\, requires a live-in caregiver. A young offender turns up for an interview\, but he is not really looking to get the job. However\, to his surprise\, he is hired. The two men then develop a close friendship. In the wrong hands this film could have been a sentimental mess. Luckily it’s not\, and instead of being a film about labels\, it’s about people and the healing power of camaraderie. “The Intouchables” is actually quite touchable. \nComedy / Drama\nRuntime 1 hour 52 minutes\nFrance\n2011\nRated 14A \nTrailer for The Intouchables \n\nSecond film Outdoors (weather permitting):\nAmélie – August 9th\, 2025\, 9:15 PM\n\nAmélie is a delicious pastry of a movie\, a lighthearted fantasy in which a winsome heroine overcomes a sad childhood and grows up to bring cheer to the needful and joy to herself. You see it\, and later when you think about it\, you smile. It is so hard to make a nimble\, charming comedy. So hard to get the tone right and find actors who embody charm instead of impersonating it. It takes so much confidence to dance on the tightrope of whimsy. “Amelie” takes those chances\, and gets away with them. \nComedy / Romance\nRuntime 2 hour 2 minutes\nFrance\n2001\nRated 14A \nTrailer for Amélie

SUMMARY:Port Moody Film Society July Movie: "Aitamaako'tamisskapi Natosi: Before the Sun"
DESCRIPTION:There are many sports documentaries in the world\, but few are as patient and focused as this one from director Banchi Hanuse about the thrilling and terrifying world of bareback relay horse racing. Aitamaako’tamisskapi Natosi: Before the Sun follows Logan Red Crow\, a young Siksika woman who has been watching the race since childhood. Traditionally\, only males competed in this heart-pounding event\, but times are changing and young women are gravitating towards such sports despite its challenges. We get to see Red Crow’s day-to-day life\, from waking up at the crack of dawn to the intense training she goes through to get ready. The cinematographers include beautiful shots of the land\, in the tradition of the best nature documentaries. Watching the horses storm through the pastures under the warm glow of the sun is truly awe-inspiring and exemplifies the vigour demanded of the sport’s competitors. \nThe connections explored here are profound and lasting: those between Father and Daughter\, animal and human\, family and community\, ancestral tradition and contemporary life. Graceful\, compelling and uplifting\, this is an inspirational gem. \nDocumentary\nRuntime 1 hour 30 minutes\nCanada\n2023\nNo Rating \nTrailer for Aitamaako’tamisskapi Natosi: Before the Sun \nJuly 11 at 7:30 \nTickets on sale at the door begining at 6:30 (no presales) \n$5.00 (cash only) \ninfo@pmfilm.ca
