Paying gig. \nRotary PoMo Skatepark Mural \nThe City of Port Moody invites artists or artist-led teams (to a maximum of 3 artists) who identify as First Nations\, LGTBQ2S+ to submit an expression of interest to create a public art mural for the Rotary PoMo Skatepark with youth from the community. Artists with demonstrated experience working with youth will be given priority. \nTheme\nNatural World of the West Coast: Rocky Point Park is Port Moody’s flagship park and a popular destination to enjoy the Burrard Inlet. The natural environment of the park and Inlet home to a variety of flora\, fauna and wildlife. \nProcess overview\nCall for qualifications: Artists interested in this opportunity should carefully review the guidelines outlined in this Call for Qualifications. Ensure you understand all requirements\, deadlines\, and specific criteria related to the application. \nSelection jury review: A selection jury will assess the submitted qualifications and shortlist up to three artists or artist teams.\nDesign presentation: The shortlisted artists or teams will be invited to present their portfolio and their approach to collaborating with youth.\nFinal selection: The jury will select the final artist and design to proceed with the project. \nTo apply\, submit your qualifications and required materials as a single PDF document (5MB) by the deadline. DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday 20 May 2025 at 7:00pm ArtsConnect presents In the Presence of Ancestors: Transforming Community through Art at the City Centre Branch of the Coquitlam Public Library. In this free public talk\, Tasha Faye Evans will share her journey bringing Truth and Reconciliation to the Tri-Cities with her project\, In the Presence of Ancestors. From being just an idea to the installation of the first of five house posts raised along Port Moody’s Shoreline Trail\, Tasha will share her insights about the transformational power of Coast Salish art and culture. \nTasha Faye Evans is an artist and educator inspiring change through Coast Salish art and culture. Her body of work is an intersection of artistic practice\, culture\, and education woven into dance and theatre performances\, city-wide cultural reclamation projects\, and innovative curriculum. Her current projects include Cedar Woman\, a dance honouring a legacy of Coast Salish women spanning all the way back to a tree\, and In the Presence of Ancestors\, a life-long exhibition of five Coast Salish House posts being carved and raised in Port Moody. With decades of creation and production\, Tasha has participated in performances and festivals nationally and internationally. DESCRIPTION:Are you a queer identifying artist who lives in Port Coquitlam? \nThe Tri-Cities Pride Society (TCPS) applied for grant funding from the PoCo Community Foundation’s Project Grants to create an arts-based project to lift up voices from the 2S/LGBTQIA+ community. The project is in two parts: first\, a collaborative community art project\, and second\, an exhibition of local queer artists. The Tri-Cities Pride Society is doing a call out to local queer artists for the exhibition.
