DESCRIPTION:Step into the world of personal storytelling with award-winning actor\, playwright\, comedian\, and facilitator Deborah Williams! This workshop is inspired by Zee Zee Theatre Company’s Rainbow Youth Storytelling Project\, a low-barrier project centering 2SLGBTQ+ voices who often don’t get a say in their lives\, bodies\, and identities. \nOpen to 2SLGBTQ+ youth and allies (ages 12-19)\, this FREE creative session invites youth to explore their own stories and find their voice in a relaxed and supportive space. Along the way\, discover how storytelling can challenge stereotypes\, spark conversations\, and build connections. \nThis workshop is presented in support of True Colours\, PoMoArts’ annual Youth Pride Art Exhibition (May 14-Jul 5)\, and Port Moody Youth Pride Festival. Witness the exciting rise of a young noble as he becomes the hero of the people known as Robin Hood. Swords clash and arrows fly as Little John\, Friar Tuck\, and Maid Marian join with Robin in comedic escapades to prevent evil Prince John from usurping the English throne from good King Richard. A history lesson has never been so much fun! \nCasting Requirements (large cast with the possibility of multiple roles)\n*Note: the ages of the characters are flexible and casting will be based on chemistry between actors. Stage 43 welcomes diversity in casting and actors of all backgrounds\, identities\, and abilities are encouraged to audition! \nMAIN CHARACTERS \nRobin Hood – The heroic outlaw of Sherwood Forest\, originally a young nobleman who becomes a champion for the oppressed\, fighting against greed and injustice \nMaid Marion – A feisty adventuress who captures Robin Hood’s heart and is skilled in both wit and action \nLittle John – Robin Hood’s loyal companion and a key member of the Merry Men\, known for his strength and humour \nFriar Tuck – The comic and wise cleric who supports Robin Hood and often serves as narrator\, guiding the audience through the story \nPrince John – The greedy and ruthless ruler who has taken control and England\, serving as the main antagonist \nThe Sheriff of Nottingham – Another primary antagonist\, enforcing Prince John’s oppressive rule and constantly pursuing Robin Hood \nSir Guy of Gisbourne – A villainous knight allied with Prince John and the Sherrif\, often scheming against Robin Hood \nDeorwynn (pronounced Der-win) – A supporting character who interacts with Robin Hood and the Merry Men\, adding depth and intrigue to the story \nSUPPORTING CHARACTERS (possibility of doubling up roles) \nHeloise\, Midwife\, Robert\, Master Bladen\, Master Godwin\, Alize\, Roderick\, Fawkes\, Margery\, Blind Man\, Monks\, Tankred\, Father Goph\, Bajka\, Gáspár\, Much the Miller\, Simon\, Ansgot\, Soldiers\, Foresters\, Jacques\, Etienne\, Mateo\, Diego\, Maximillian\, Matthias\, Archers\, and Executioners \nNotes:\n• Audition will be cold readings from sides not from the play. In addition\, you are welcome to show off your favourite 1-2 minute monologue if you wish. A monologue is not a requirement and does not need to be delivered from memory! The director would also like you to tell him a joke (Google is your friend).\n• Book an audition time through the scheduling app by clicking here: https://calendly.com/stage43theatre/auditions-sherwood. Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your scheduled audition time to fill in the audition application form and review audition sides. Also\, bring a list of dates that you are not available for rehearsals (these will be used to respect everyone’s time and schedule meaningful rehearsals).\n• This is a non-Equity production; everyone involved in this production does so on a voluntary basis. There is no remuneration. If you are a union member\, you will need to obtain a waiver from your union to participate in this production.\n• Successful auditionees will be required to become members of Stage 43 Theatrical Society at the first rehearsal ($20.00 adult / $16 seniors annual membership fee).\n• Rehearsals take place on Monday and Wednesday evenings (7 pm to 9:30 pm) during the summer and Sunday afternoons (1 pm to 5 pm) beginning late August/early September 2026. \nStage 43 is an inclusive group. Everyone is welcome to audition for any role they see themselves in.
