SUMMARY:Art Out Side: Stories On Wheels
DESCRIPTION:Vancouver performing arts company Pangaea Arts presents STORIES ONWHEELS\, an original street theatre storytelling act for the whole family. Tales are brought to life by a high-energy comic performer\, using beautifully illustrated picture cards displayed in a magnificent miniature wooden stage attached to the back of a unique bicycle. Inspired by a traditional Japanese travelling storytelling show popular from the 1920s through the 1950s called kamishibai (literally “paper theatre”)\, the show combines the best of oral storytelling and visual art. Featuring gorgeous illustrations by BC artists\, as well as traditional picture cards from Japan\, several short stories are told with music\, dramatic action\, and audience interaction. You’ve never been told a story this way\, before! \n\n\n\n\nStories On Wheels has been wheeling into festivals\, special events\, libraries\, schools and museums throughout Western Canada for over 14 years. They are super excited to be part of this new outdoor festival and entertaining audiences in Port Moody!\n\n\n\n\n‍Follow the Artist: \nWebsite: http://www.pangaea-arts.com/kamishibai \nFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/StoriesOnWheels

SUMMARY:Art Out Side: The Art of Letting Go
DESCRIPTION:What if the emotional baggage we carry had a physical form? This performance invites audiences to witness pop-up performances where solo artists and pairs appear unexpectedly across Port Moody\, each carrying helium balloons that symbolize their personal burdens. Through stylized physical theatre\, performers embody narratives unique to their characters—stories of loss\, fear\, overwhelm\, control\, and the struggle to let go. These spontaneous appearances build toward a culminating group performance in a shared space\, where all participants gather and\, in a final gesture\, attempt to release their balloons—an act of communal letting go. Ideally\, the final performance space will double as an interactive installation where members of the public can write down something they wish to let go of\, attach it to a balloon\, and add it to a growing sky of balloons. Over (potentially) the weekend\, the space will transform into a collaborative artwork built by the community—an ever-shifting sculpture that reflects the baggage we carry around with us in our everyday lives. This work brings together art\, theatre\, narrative\, and participation to ask: What do we carry? And what happens when we choose to let go? \nFollow No One’s Watching: \nWebsite: no-oneswatching.com \nInstagram: @noones_watching \n  \nLOCATIONS* \nPoMoArts \n2425 St Johns Street\, Port Moody \n‍ \nGrit Cafe \n50 Queens St\, Port Moody \n‍ \nLittle Beans \n70 Kyle St\, Port Moody \n‍ \nQueen’s Plaza \n49 Queens St\, Port Moody \n‍ \n* Happening simultaneously at different locations
