Inside a blacklight-lit space\, participants use vibrant UV-reactive paints to colour sections of a large fluorescent line drawing inspired by the city’s waterfront\, mountains\, forests\, wildlife\, and community. As each person adds their own brushstrokes\, the artwork gradually transforms into a luminous celebration of the place we share – revealing that the true light of Port Moody comes from the people who bring it to life. \n“I’m excited to be part of Art Out Side because I love creating experiences that bring people together through creativity. What Glows Within is about more than painting – it’s about revealing the beauty\, energy and spirit of Port Moody through hundreds of individual contributions. The visuals themselves come from the community: local participants’ hand-drawn artwork\, created in workshops leading up to the festival\, is digitized and animated for the mapping. Inspired by wild animal calls\, imaginary jungles\, and the invisible line of radio signals\, the duo creates a live performance where modern analog synths\, psych guitar\, and electronic loops collaborate with traditional flutes\, Korean junggu drum\, making a global musical sound. It is about how scavengers live alongside humans. The vulture purifies the land by eating decaying flesh\, and disease. Without them\, we would be drowning in corpses. The piece is a creative way to bring attention to the several wars happening around the globe at this time. It is beautiful and poetic and very Canadian in that it celebrates the healing power of nature in the face of human chaos. Pray to the Turkey vulture. SUMMARY:Open Air Performance Series: Archie Anos & Danny Cruz
DESCRIPTION:D&A is an acoustic duo from Surrey. We met at a church choir where Danny played the guitar\, while was Archie was a soloist. We play cover songs in the following genres: folk\, acoustic\, and OPM (Original Pinoy Music) with an emphasis on harmonies. We have been playing together for over a decade\, and have been participating in charity concerts and community events. We also volunteer to perform at care homes. We are very active in the Filipino community where we professionally perform in private parties and restaurants. We are eager to perform for a more diverse audience\, and share our culture and love for music.

A glowing image and fragmented soundscape emerge within the landscape\, drawing on the slippage between fairy as mythic being and ‘fairy’ as queer slur. Seduction\, danger\, fantasy\, and fleeting intimacy unfold through voices\, foliage\, light\, and bodies half-heard and half-remembered. Blurring fiction and encounter\, the work imagines the woods as a site of queer divinity\, sensuality\, and transformation—where desire shimmers briefly into view\, then slips back into the night. \n“I’m excited to be bringing this site-specific project to Port Moody\, situated at the beautiful Mossom Creek. It is something seductive\, resonant\, and immersive—both personal and fantastical. My project engages desire\, danger\, and mythology all together\, and I look forward to sharing it with you all.”

His work has appeared at The Salmon Festival\, Vancouver Kids Fringe\, and Midsummer Festival\, and audiences have praised his puppets’ craftsmanship and smooth\, expressive movement. His most recent project\, Rags and the Magic Paintbrush\, is a handcrafted show full of humor and heart about learning to express your inner artist. Come to the Port Coquitlam Writers Group at the Gathering Place on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month from 6:30-8pm. Engage with other local writers through prompts\, readings\, and brainstorming\, and discover a safe space to work on your craft. Open to beginning\, emerging\, or established wordsmiths\, 16 and older; attending the first meeting is free\, then you can purchase a Poco Arts Council annual membership for $10. Audiences encounter Whitty Typo-Write (a mobile typewriter)\, Clarity the Poetichanic\, and The Wily Soapbox 2000—an animated speaking platform with cranky contraptions and theatrical mischief.  Poetry becomes tactile\, public\, and slightly unhinged in this fully co-created installation that is part clown ritual\, part public experiment wrapped in enduring charm. Audiences are invited into spontaneous acts of writing: Composing sincere or absurd texts and amplifying their words through analogue spectacle. Participants will get hands-on experience of using Lê’s cipher of the English alphabet\, “ Alpha/broken.” After a decoding exercise\, participants will script their very own visual alphabet and “rescript” a set of their very own mother tongue/invented language trading cards. Afterwards participants can discuss and exchange their trading cards with each other. DESCRIPTION:Laura Kelsey has played hundreds of events such as Nanaimo’s Concerts in the Park\, Islands Folk Festival and Desert Daze in Spences Bridge; opened for acclaimed Canadian artists like Jeff Martin (The Tea Party)\, Terra Lightfoot and Daniel Wesley; and toured with Canadian rocker Matthew Good in 2022. She has fronted everything from blues to folk bands\, and she brings these musical influences together to create “earthy magic” inspired by natural West Coast elements\, honesty and dreams. Her EP Hunting Season was released in 2023; and her full-length album Hidden Mountains is now available as of April 2026.

The production weaves together Afro-Colombian\, Indigenous\, and mestizo heritage\, narrating profound experiences from across the country. The dance journey explores the vibrant energy of the Pacific coast with the oriplayando\, aguabajo\, and currulao; the sensuality of the Atlantic cumbia; the playful spirit of the rural rumba; and the tradition of the Huila sanjuanero. DESCRIPTION:Jeremy Facknitz has been delighting audiences with his brand of high-energy theatrical folk-rock-jazz for nearly 30 years. His band “The Ottomans” topped Hall Of Fame rockers “The White Stripes” for Best New Alternative Band at the Detroit Music Awards in 2001\, he’s a 3-time finalist in the prestigious Kerrville New Folk Songwriting Competition at Kerrville Folk Festival (Lyle Lovett\, Steve Earle and Nanci Griffith are TWO time finalists)\, 2023 Posi Award Winner and he has successfully made performing his “day-job” for over a decade touring Canada\, the U.S. and soon the U.K. and beyond.

Audiences approach a standing microphone and speak\, sing\, or make sound — their voice’s pitch and rhythm trigger real-time shifts in a projected animation\, changing how the story ends. The visuals themselves come from the community: local participants’ hand-drawn artwork\, created in workshops leading up to the festival\, is digitized and animated for the mapping. Part projection art\, part public ritual\, Whispering Walls turns Art Out Side’s audience into co-authors of the work. \n“Art Out Side asks artists to rethink where and how art happens — and that’s exactly the space I love working in. Whispering Walls only exists because people show up and speak into it; the city becomes a canvas\, and the audience becomes the author.
