SUMMARY:Port Coquitlam Song Writers Group - Drop In
DESCRIPTION:Connect with local songwriters\, share your songs\, collaborate on new ideas & get inspired at this creative drop-in session in Poco!\n\n\n\nPort Coquitlam Song Writers Group – Drop In\nLooking to share your tunes or get inspired? Join the Port Coquitlam Song Writers Group for a chill\, in-person session! Whether you’re polishing lyrics or just getting the creative juices flowing\, this drop-in event is all about creativity and good vibes. Bring your passion for songwriting. Everyone’s welcome—no pressure\, just fun and music. Come hang out and connect with fellow songwriters in the community! \nThe Port Coquitlam Songwriters Group aims to support writers at all stages\, from first-time participants to those continuing to develop their songwriting practice. The group remains in a drop-in format \, and no previous experience or attendance is required. \nTwo optional creative pathways will be offered allowing participants to choose the approach that best fits where they are in their writing journey. \nFor first-time writers or those looking for structure\, we will focus on writing with focus on our senses. Using guided prompts\, participants will explore sight\, sound\, touch\, taste\, and smell as entry points into lyric writing. \nFor participants who are more experienced or curious about writing to music\, the second pathway will explore writing lyrics to music without trying to make the words fit within the music. Writers may bring instrumental tracks\, chord progressions\, or simple melodies to share but otherwise we will have a few simple instrumental tracks to choose from. This exercise is one that we are hoping will be a organic no pressure way to let inspired lyrics flow. \nThe session will include: \n\nA check-in and\nGuided sensory-based writing exercises\nTime to write alongside music in an open\, pressure-free way\nOptional sharing and supportive reflection\n\nSharing is always optional\, and listening is considered full participation. \nThis workshop is ideal for anyone interested in experimenting with new approaches\, deepening emotional connection in their writing\, or simply creating in a supportive community space. All voices and experience levels are welcome.

SUMMARY:DRAWING IN THE GALLERY
DESCRIPTION:DRAWING IN THE GALLERY\nKAREN ZALAMEA: EVERY SURFACE IS A SHRINE \nYou are invited to draw in the gallery during this monthly Sunday session. This is an open drawing activity meant to encourage looking\, slowing down and spending time in the gallery space. Prompts may be offered\, but you are welcome to draw in any way that feels comfortable to you. There is no expectation to create a finished artwork. All drawings are welcome! No experience is necessary and supplies are provided. \nBy donation. Pre-registration encouraged\, drop-ins welcome.\nRecommended for ages 16+. \nABOUT THE EXHIBITION\nThe Art Gallery at Evergreen is pleased to present Every Surface Is a Shrine\, which brings together a selection of photo-based works by Karen Zalamea that traces the shifting boundaries between material\, memory and place. Rooted in a critical exploration of photography’s expanded possibilities\, Zalamea’s practice reimagines the medium not only as an image-making tool but as a methodology of care\, labour and cultural inquiry. \nThis exhibition is part of the 2026 Capture Photography Festival Selected Exhibition Program.
