SUMMARY:Open Air Performance Series: Dominic Grimm
DESCRIPTION:DOMINIC GRIMM\nOpen Air Performance Series\n\n\n\n\n\nFrom July 7th – August 29th\, 2025 join us for a free\, 1-hour performance every Monday to Friday at 6PM as part of our Open Air Performance Series. By expanding our arts experiences into Town Centre Park\, we hope these events will excite our patrons and introduce us to new faces and Lake Lafarge lovers alike. Grab your picnic basket and enjoy a free professional concert in the park! \nThe Evergreen Cultural Centre Society is supported by Port Coquitlam Community Foundation Theatre Society Legacy Fund. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nABOUT THE ARTISTS \n\nDominic Grimm is a singer/songwriter raised in BC’s Lower Mainland. Currently based out of Vancouver\, he uses his banjo and voice to reach people with his intimate lyrical writing. His music draws inspiration from Hozier\, The Amazing Devil\, and Pete Seeger\, with an alt-folk feel to much of his work. Dominic writes from his life and experiences as someone who grew up in the unique biome that is the Lower Mainland\, and as a trans person. His lyrics frequently talk about transformation and the natural world\, as well as how the expectations of others can’t change the true nature of things. \nDominic started his love of music at age six\, after his older brother had his first piano lesson. Dominic sat down at the piano and refused to move until he got a lesson as well. After years of exams with the Royal Conservatory of Music\, and graded performances at events like the Kwantlen Music Festival\, Dominic lost touch with what made him fall in love with music\, and discontinued lessons and performing in his early twenties. \nBut Dominic never stopped looking for that magic he felt when he first sat down at a piano. A magic he found again when he picked up a banjo for the first time six years ago. Dominic has since been composing and performing around Vancouver at street festivals\, in parks\, at open mics\, and wherever else he can find a place to share his music.

SUMMARY:Art Out Side: The Art of Letting Go
DESCRIPTION:What if the emotional baggage we carry had a physical form? This performance invites audiences to witness pop-up performances where solo artists and pairs appear unexpectedly across Port Moody\, each carrying helium balloons that symbolize their personal burdens. Through stylized physical theatre\, performers embody narratives unique to their characters—stories of loss\, fear\, overwhelm\, control\, and the struggle to let go. These spontaneous appearances build toward a culminating group performance in a shared space\, where all participants gather and\, in a final gesture\, attempt to release their balloons—an act of communal letting go. Ideally\, the final performance space will double as an interactive installation where members of the public can write down something they wish to let go of\, attach it to a balloon\, and add it to a growing sky of balloons. Over (potentially) the weekend\, the space will transform into a collaborative artwork built by the community—an ever-shifting sculpture that reflects the baggage we carry around with us in our everyday lives. This work brings together art\, theatre\, narrative\, and participation to ask: What do we carry? And what happens when we choose to let go? \nFollow No One’s Watching: \nWebsite: no-oneswatching.com \nInstagram: @noones_watching \n  \nLOCATIONS* \nPoMoArts \n2425 St Johns Street\, Port Moody \n‍ \nGrit Cafe \n50 Queens St\, Port Moody \n‍ \nLittle Beans \n70 Kyle St\, Port Moody \n‍ \nQueen’s Plaza \n49 Queens St\, Port Moody \n‍ \n* Happening simultaneously at different locations

SUMMARY:Art Out Side: 5 on A String
DESCRIPTION:5 on a String has been picking and singing bluegrass music all around the Pacific Northwest for over thirty years. We have a family-friendly show with plenty of hot picking and fiddle tunes to entertain just about any audience. Seniors love the old time theme and harmony singing\, and even the kids are attracted to the staccato sounds of the banjo and fiddle. We play and sing in the old time radio show style\, and we’ll get their toes tapping and hands clapping… Guaranteed. It’s been wonderful to perform all across B.C.\, Alberta\, and Washington state over the years and the friends\, fans\, and relationships we have shared are priceless to us. We’re thrilled that we can bring our brand of mountain music to Port Moody this summer. \nFollow 5 on a String online: \nWebsite: 5onastring.com \nInstagram: @fiveonastring

Formed by Slavic immigrant/singer/songwriter and guitarist Petcho Joch\, the Slavic Folk Punks Total Gadjos do for Slavic Folk what Gogol Bordello does for Romani music and The Pogues for Irish/Celtic Folk. They rev it up to punk speed and power while maintaining the melodic sense of the original sound and use the accordion\, sax\, trumpet\, clarinet\, and violin for Slavic Folk authenticity. \nTotal Gadjos was the pre-show artist for the sold-out Goran Bregovic Wedding and Funeral Orchestra show at Jack Singer Hall in Calgary. They opened for Lemon Bucket Orkestra at Gateway (Calgary) and for Art Bergmann at Fences Down Festival (Calgary). The Gadjos played another sold-out show with Plaid Tongued Devils at Ironwood Stage & Grill (Calgary) and with Wax Mannequin in Salmon Arm\, BC.

SUMMARY:Art Out Side: Sonic Bloom
DESCRIPTION:Sonic Bloom is a lively interactive installation that transforms movement and sound into the growth of digital flora based on native plants local to B.C. It offers an opportunity to reflect on our connection to the nature in our own backyard. The piece uses a body tracking camera to allow participants to interact directly with a large-scale projection\, ideally outdoors. Everyone will grow a unique flowering plant native to B.C.\, combining into a garden that evolves with their every movement. The music of Ruby Singh’s Polyphonic Garden will fill the air and activate the flowers as they pulse with each beat. Singh created this Western Canadian Music Award winning album over the course of two years of travels to six biomes throughout so-called “British Columbia.” Using biosonification\, Singh raises songs from indigenous flora and fungi\, transforming bio-electricity into midi data to inform pitch and rhythm. The melodies are then mixed with field recordings and unique instrumentation. What emerges are complexly layered sonic ecologies of connection to the natural world\, where Singh imagines how we might move towards right relations with these generous lands\, waters and skies. The installation will culminate with alive performance by Ruby Singh. Grounded in local ecologies\, Sonic Bloom is a multisensory immersive and interactive experience that connects participants to nature through their bodies. Their active participation in the piece reminding them of their role in shifting our relationship with the more than human world all around us. \n‍ \nAbout the Artist: \nBiome is the collective multisensory\, immersive work of Ruby Singh and John Desnoyers-Stewart grounded in rewilding human relationships with the more-than-human. Ruby Singh is a multi award winning performer\, composer and producer residing on the unceded territories of  the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm\, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh\, and səl̓ílwətaʔɬ/Tsleil-Waututh Nations (Vancouver BC.). His creativity crosses the boundaries of music\, poetry\, photography and film engaging with mythos\, memory\, justice and fantasy.  In 2022 Singh received the Lieutenant Governor’s Jubilee Award for excellence in Art and Music. In 2023 he received his inaugural Juno nomination and he won both the WCMA award for best Global Music Artist of the Year and BC Touring Council’s  Artist of the Year. Singh believes in art’s ability to reimagine futures\, to repurpose aesthetic freedoms toward civil and environmental justice. John Desnoyers-Stewart is an interdisciplinary artist/researcher and postdoctoral fellow at the University of British Columbia’s (UBC) Critical Future Studio/Lab. He integrates artistic practice with engineering knowledge to create innovative artworks to connect people and evoke new perspectives on our shared physical reality. He has exhibited his multi-user mixed reality installations\, Star-Stuff\, Eve 3.0\, and more in over80 exhibitions at art galleries and festivals around the world. SUMMARY:Open Air Performance Series: What We Embrace
DESCRIPTION:WHAT WE EMBRACE\nOpen Air Performance Series\n\n\n\n\n\nFrom July 7th – August 29th\, 2025 join us for a free\, 1-hour performance every Monday to Friday at 6PM as part of our Open Air Performance Series. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nABOUT THE ARTISTS \n\nDuo Lindalouise and Dougie Grieg met in a dimly lit bar where Dougie was singing in a tiny Scottish town many years ago. They fell in love\, married and moved halfway across the world. One day Lindalouise with shaky hands\, took a journal of songs that she’d been secretly writing to Dougie\, a writer she deeply admired. \nIt was just over two years ago they decided to embrace a new journey. What We Embrace tells stories\, some triumphant\, some less so. Their sound is teetering between Indie Folk and New Americana. Voices blending\, lifting and weaving in unexpected places. Each song\, a journey through heartbreak\, love\, uncertainty and redemption. \nThey make music for the dreamers\, the broken and the yet-to-be-found\, drawing influences from The Civil Wars\, Fleetwood Mac and Brandi Carlile\, amongst others. \n“We often find ourselves in moments quite unexpected and we find then\, we are all what we embrace”

SUMMARY:Art Out Side: Radiant Contours: LED Installation
DESCRIPTION:Radiant Contours isa 9 foot tall outdoor light sculpture that transforms real-world topography into an illuminated vertical landscape. Its surface is made of a 10 by 10 grid of 3D printed terrain tiles\, representing the contours of Southwest British Columbia .As light pulses through the layered forms\, the landscape appears to breathe\, animated by shifting patterns that echo wind and water. The sculpture stands on a 3 by 7 foot cedar platform that houses its 110 volt to 12 volt DC power system. Weather-resistant and self-contained\, it installs quickly and requires only a standard outlet. Radiant Contours is designed to be touched. Viewers are encouraged to explore the terrain with their hands\, engaging with the work through texture\, light\, and movement. At night\, it becomes a quiet beacon\, offering a moment of calm and connection in public space. Ideal for parks\, walkways\, or transitional urban sites\, the piece transforms overlooked areas into immersive experiences. The work is part of an ongoing exploration into spatial storytelling\, using digital fabrication and geographic data to create sensory connections to place. Radiant Contours turns physical data into atmosphere\, and public space into poetry. \nAbout the Artist: \nNeil creates objects and spaces tailored to unique people and places. He work as an industrial designer\, fabricator\, concept artist\, and educator. Inspired by the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest\, his practice blends technology and art to shape immersive\, spatial experiences. Neil graduated from Emily Carr University in 2016 with a degree in Industrial Design\, he draws influence from local landscapes and communities.  His work often uses topography and GIS to offer viewers a new perspective\, lifting them above ground level into new realms.

SUMMARY:Open Air Performance Series: APÄTRIDA
DESCRIPTION:APÄTRIDA\nOpen Air Performance Series\n\n\n\n\n\nFrom July 7th – August 29th\, 2025 join us for a free\, 1-hour performance every Monday to Friday at 6PM as part of our Open Air Performance Series. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nABOUT THE ARTISTS \n\nAPÄTRIDA is the visionary musical project of Pablo Zacarias\, a trans-disciplinary artist who blends his Mexican and Lebanese heritage with global sounds and influences. APÄTRIDA (which means “stateless”) is a profound reflection on the search for identity\, belonging\, and constant transformation in a world in flux. \nThrough a fusion of musical genres and collaborations with musicians and producers from diverse cultures—Mexico\, Canada\, Brazil\, Egypt\, Japan\, and Argentina—APÄTRIDA becomes a sonic melting pot that captures stories of displacement\, resistance\, and change. With introspective lyrics and innovative production\, this project delves into universal themes such as migration\, nostalgia\, and resilience.
