SUMMARY:Sculpt & Giggle: Make Your Playful Clay Pal!
DESCRIPTION:Bring your imagination to life in this playful\, hands-on clay workshop! \nUsing simple hand-building techniques like pinching and coiling\, you’ll craft your very own quirky monsters\, fantastical creatures\, or whimsical characters. Go wild with exaggerated features\, silly expressions\, and unexpected details—or even use molds and playful tools to add extra personality. These little clay companions can be functional\, like a cute planter or a tiny dish\, or purely decorative—perfect for adding charm and laughter to any shelf or desk. Instructors will guide you step by step\, making it easy to let your creativity run free. \nCome ready to experiment\, giggle\, and get a little messy while making a one-of-a-kind creature that’s full of character\, imagination\, and fun!Due to the kiln-firing process\, finished mugs will be ready for pickup approximately 3–4 weeks after the workshop. \nAbout the Instructor\nRylan Cocks is an artist and art educator holding Bachelor’s of Fine Arts from Emily Carr University of Art and Design. Approaching his work with maximalist sensibilities such as over-patterning\, glimmers of gold and silver\, animal prints\, and the introduction of other mediums such as textiles and rhinestones\, Rylan’s practice brings forward a question of taste. This question of taste is not asking what makes good or bad art\, but inevitably how we should all forge our own creative sensibilities. Rylan has worked in an arts education capacity for over 4 years and hopes to encourage self-expression\, nurture imagination\, and help bring student’s work into fruition.

SUMMARY:Port Coquitlam Song Writers Group - Drop In
DESCRIPTION:Connect with local songwriters\, share your songs\, collaborate on new ideas & get inspired at this creative drop-in session in Poco!\n\n\n\nPort Coquitlam Song Writers Group – Drop In\nLooking to share your tunes or get inspired? Join the Port Coquitlam Song Writers Group for a chill\, in-person session! Whether you’re polishing lyrics or just getting the creative juices flowing\, this drop-in event is all about creativity and good vibes. Bring your passion for songwriting. Everyone’s welcome—no pressure\, just fun and music. Come hang out and connect with fellow songwriters in the community! \nThe Port Coquitlam Songwriters Group aims to support writers at all stages\, from first-time participants to those continuing to develop their songwriting practice. The group remains in a drop-in format \, and no previous experience or attendance is required. \nTwo optional creative pathways will be offered allowing participants to choose the approach that best fits where they are in their writing journey. \nFor first-time writers or those looking for structure\, we will focus on writing with focus on our senses. Using guided prompts\, participants will explore sight\, sound\, touch\, taste\, and smell as entry points into lyric writing. \nFor participants who are more experienced or curious about writing to music\, the second pathway will explore writing lyrics to music without trying to make the words fit within the music. Writers may bring instrumental tracks\, chord progressions\, or simple melodies to share but otherwise we will have a few simple instrumental tracks to choose from. This exercise is one that we are hoping will be a organic no pressure way to let inspired lyrics flow. \nThe session will include: \n\nA check-in and\nGuided sensory-based writing exercises\nTime to write alongside music in an open\, pressure-free way\nOptional sharing and supportive reflection\n\nSharing is always optional\, and listening is considered full participation. \nThis workshop is ideal for anyone interested in experimenting with new approaches\, deepening emotional connection in their writing\, or simply creating in a supportive community space. All voices and experience levels are welcome.

We’ll see examples through some of my own experiences of how sound can be used to enhance or inspire a story\, poem\, or drawing\, followed by various sound-based activities and exercises where you’ll be able to try out for yourself. And most importantly\, no specific talent in writing or the arts is required! *Worksheet and art supplies provided but feel free to bring your own notebook and coloured pencils. \nBio:\nCARMY STUBBS is a lover of the Word and its power for transformation and healing. Through her poetry\, short stories\, writings\, and illustrations\, she explores the creative force of the Heart and the finding of one’s True Voice. Carmy is the author of the novel The Six Knowings of ASAIRA\, a metaphysical fantasy\, where all her loves ~ the poems\, the magic\, the storytelling\, and the search for the Divine~ weave themselves alchemically through text and illustration. Carmy also holds monthly meetings on creativity through meditation\, and workshops on healing through the arts.
