SUMMARY:PoCo Creative Drop In Sliding Scale - Painting the Seasons!
DESCRIPTION:Come learn painting with us! Just bring your curiosity and paint shirt! \nWhen painting landscapes\, seasons each have their own palette. Learn how to mix unique palette’s to create the mood and season that you have planned for your landscape. In this class you will learn the difference between high key\, low key\, modern\, and neutral colours in the process of creating your own 4 quadrant landscape. \nIn Spring colours are light and optimistic. This can be achieved by using high key colours to suggest bright light\, fresh air\, and new leaves. They are luminous\, transparent and delicate. \nSummer is full of colour\, so lively and engaging colours are needed for your florals and landscapes. A Modern palette of deeper colours supports a vibrant and exciting painting. \nAutumn is earthy with a full spectrum of darker low key colours in the leaves and trees. The sun’s angle is lower so there are a lot of shadows that change the landscape. \nFor winter there is a subdued calm and softness that comes with snow. Using cool and warm neutral complementary colours presents a believable winter scene. \nSliding Scale PoCo Creative Drop In \nWe are proposing a sliding scale for payments for our upcoming painting classes. If most people can pay $20/lesson\, we will break even! \nWe understand everyone’s financial situation is different. To ensure accessibility for all\, we’re offering tickets on a sliding scale. The suggested minimum price is $20 – this price covers your materials and instructor fees. There will also be a $10\, $25 and $35 options. You’re welcome to pay more if you’re able to. Your choice of price is completely voluntary and does not impact your access to the event. If you are unable to afford the minimum $10 ticket\, please email pocoarts@gmail.com and we will secure you a seat\, no questions asked. Please consider how much you can contribute to help others attend who might otherwise be unable to\, or how it supports the PoCo Arts Council in continuing these events (there is a donation option upon checkout). \nSpaces are limited—reserve your spot today! \nThe PoCo Arts Council\, in collaboration the City of PoCo is putting on these unique classes\, come try something new! \nFor materials\, only participants paintings can go home\, supplies to be reused in future classes. \nTo be notified on subsequent classes\, subscribe to the PoCo Arts Newsletter at https://pocoarts.wordpress.com/newsletter-sign-up/

SUMMARY:Open Air Performance Series: Sabrielle
DESCRIPTION:SABRIELLE\nOpen Air Performance Series\n\n\n\n\n\nFrom July 7th – August 29th\, 2025 join us for a free\, 1-hour performance every Monday to Friday at 6PM as part of our Open Air Performance Series. Whether it’s pop\, gospel\, jazz or R&B\, Sabrielle’s soulful voice and intuitive storytelling breathes new life into every song she performs. \nBorn into music\, Sabrielle grew up with songwriter parents and a family who would sing together in perfect harmony. So\, when she turned to songwriting as a means of processing emotional upheaval and major life changes\, they all said the same thing: “it’s about time”! Inspired by artists like Sara Bareilles\, Ingrid Michaelson\, and Alicia Keys\, Sabrielle layers indie-pop with hints of the gospel\, jazz and RnB that she grew up with. Her songs are an honest and emotional exploration of her experiences of love\, loss\, dating\, divorce\, and what it means to be a queer\, neurodivergent woman navigating life in the modern day. \nSabrielle has performed across the lower mainland\, Vancouver Island\, and the Fraser Valley\, from intimate pubs and coffee shops to festival stages and red curtain theatres. She leads a women’s vocal trio\, Dia\, and is the principal singer for the acclaimed “Winter Harp”\, which tours across BC every December. \nHer first single\, “Wait I Can’t Bare”\, released in January\, was hailed as “the most soul-stirring debut you’ll hear this year”. With more singles and an album on the way\, Sabrielle is one to watch!

SUMMARY:MULTITUDES CURATOR'S TOUR
DESCRIPTION:MULTITUDES CURATOR’S TOUR\nFriday\, July 11 | 12:30pm\nJoin interim curator Adrienne Fast for a drop-in lunchtime tour of Multitudes. \nABOUT THE EXHIBITION\nHow do stories transform the present and project the future? How do we relate to ourselves and the world around us? Looking to the stars and tracing the constellations offers a reminder of the expansiveness of time and the stories that situate us within the vastness of the universe. Multitudes is a group exhibition featuring work from Sonny Assu\, Chun Hua Catherine Dong\, Deborah Edmeades\, Odera Igbokwe\, Cheyenne Rain LeGrande ᑭᒥᐊᐧᐣ and Tatjana Mirkov-Popovicki. \nTurning to the fantastical\, the artists explore layers of identity as they traverse the present\, untangle oppressive histories and imagine the future (and the self) as sites of renewal. Working across sculpture\, painting\, textiles\, new media and video\, the artists draw inspiration from fantasy\, the influence of technology and stories of the cosmos that shape our experiences of the present.

SUMMARY:Open Air Performance Series: Little Fox
DESCRIPTION:LITTLE FOX\nOpen Air Performance Series\n\n\n\n\n\nFrom July 7th – August 29th\, 2025 join us for a free\, 1-hour performance every Monday to Friday at 6PM as part of our Open Air Performance Series. A background in composing and music directing for live theatre\, as well as playing different instruments in a number of bands\, gave her a unique skillset in writing many different styles of music\, a skill she has carried over to her own project\, LittleFox. Equally at home creating and performing rousing dance tunes\, sing-along cabaret numbers\, or sparse and haunting folk tunes\, LittleFox has carved a niche in the Vancouver roots music scene. Recently\, Jenkins has been experimenting with adding her own lush orchestrations to her original songs\, expanding her band to a 10-piece folk orchestra. Her songs’ subject matter is as wide-ranging as their styles\, but at the end of the day\, LittleFox has always been a project about strong women finding love and connection in the teeth of the apocalypse.

SUMMARY:Port Moody Film Society July Movie: "Aitamaako'tamisskapi Natosi: Before the Sun"
DESCRIPTION:There are many sports documentaries in the world\, but few are as patient and focused as this one from director Banchi Hanuse about the thrilling and terrifying world of bareback relay horse racing. Aitamaako’tamisskapi Natosi: Before the Sun follows Logan Red Crow\, a young Siksika woman who has been watching the race since childhood. Traditionally\, only males competed in this heart-pounding event\, but times are changing and young women are gravitating towards such sports despite its challenges. We get to see Red Crow’s day-to-day life\, from waking up at the crack of dawn to the intense training she goes through to get ready. The cinematographers include beautiful shots of the land\, in the tradition of the best nature documentaries. Watching the horses storm through the pastures under the warm glow of the sun is truly awe-inspiring and exemplifies the vigour demanded of the sport’s competitors. \nThe connections explored here are profound and lasting: those between Father and Daughter\, animal and human\, family and community\, ancestral tradition and contemporary life. Graceful\, compelling and uplifting\, this is an inspirational gem. \nDocumentary\nRuntime 1 hour 30 minutes\nCanada\n2023\nNo Rating \nTrailer for Aitamaako’tamisskapi Natosi: Before the Sun \nJuly 11 at 7:30 \nTickets on sale at the door begining at 6:30 (no presales) \n$5.00 (cash only) \ninfo@pmfilm.ca
