SUMMARY:Art Out Side: Stories On Wheels
DESCRIPTION:Vancouver performing arts company Pangaea Arts presents STORIES ONWHEELS\, an original street theatre storytelling act for the whole family. Tales are brought to life by a high-energy comic performer\, using beautifully illustrated picture cards displayed in a magnificent miniature wooden stage attached to the back of a unique bicycle. Inspired by a traditional Japanese travelling storytelling show popular from the 1920s through the 1950s called kamishibai (literally “paper theatre”)\, the show combines the best of oral storytelling and visual art. Featuring gorgeous illustrations by BC artists\, as well as traditional picture cards from Japan\, several short stories are told with music\, dramatic action\, and audience interaction. You’ve never been told a story this way\, before! \n\n\n\n\nStories On Wheels has been wheeling into festivals\, special events\, libraries\, schools and museums throughout Western Canada for over 14 years. They are super excited to be part of this new outdoor festival and entertaining audiences in Port Moody!\n\n\n\n\n‍Follow the Artist: \nWebsite: http://www.pangaea-arts.com/kamishibai \nFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/StoriesOnWheels

SUMMARY:Art Out Side: Shoreline Paintings
DESCRIPTION:TIME \n2:00PM – 7:00PM (Shannon Thiesen\, Alex Allen) \n4:00PM – 7:00PM (Bev Bakka) \n  \nDraw Me\nIn the spirit of forest fun\, stop by and Bev will sketch you. In less than five minutes she will create a little line drawing that may capture your essence. Then you can dab a bit of water colour paint on the drawing\, bringing it to life. \n‍ \nAbout the Artist: \nYou may find yourself captured in a comic-like line drawing if you frequent local parks and businesses Port Moody. Using a fountain pen\, Bev sketches in Port Moody and area cafes\, hiking trails\, breweries\, shops and community events. She uses her line drawing technique to notice detail\, to remember people and their uniqueness. She has found that by drawing people\, she is more likely to notice what makes them tick. Adding some rosy cheeks\, some lovely yellow sunshine\, or some West Coast nature\, complete the quick little caricature-like sketch. Bev combines her two obsessions; sketching and music\, by drawing the delightful musicians at Rocky Point Spirits and Brave Brewery Open Mic nights. There is always a surprise or two to capture there! She knows that drawing people slows her down\, making her notice how special each person is. Along with providing the novelty she craves\, the practise aids in respecting everyone. It’s tough to judge after spending a few minutes of sketching what you see. The joy shines through. – Bev Bakka. \nFollow Bev on Instagram: @bevbakkaart \n  \nLive Portrait Drawings\nLive portrait drawings with coloured pencil or charcoal. She has also participated in numerous group exhibitions throughout Vancouver and was featured in the March issue of The Georgia Straight. \n‍ \nFollow Alex online: \nWebsite: www.alexallenart.com \nInstagram: @alexallenart \n‍ \nPlein Air Paintings\nShannon will be setting up her easel and canvas to paint a location along the trail\, inspired by her surroundings. \n‍ \nAbout the Artist: \nShannon Thiesen is an award-winning visual artist living in Coquitlam\, B.C. SUMMARY:Open Air Performance Series: Dominic Grimm
DESCRIPTION:DOMINIC GRIMM\nOpen Air Performance Series\n\n\n\n\n\nFrom July 7th – August 29th\, 2025 join us for a free\, 1-hour performance every Monday to Friday at 6PM as part of our Open Air Performance Series. By expanding our arts experiences into Town Centre Park\, we hope these events will excite our patrons and introduce us to new faces and Lake Lafarge lovers alike. Grab your picnic basket and enjoy a free professional concert in the park! \nThe Evergreen Cultural Centre Society is supported by Port Coquitlam Community Foundation Theatre Society Legacy Fund. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \nABOUT THE ARTISTS \n\nDominic Grimm is a singer/songwriter raised in BC’s Lower Mainland. Currently based out of Vancouver\, he uses his banjo and voice to reach people with his intimate lyrical writing. His music draws inspiration from Hozier\, The Amazing Devil\, and Pete Seeger\, with an alt-folk feel to much of his work. Dominic writes from his life and experiences as someone who grew up in the unique biome that is the Lower Mainland\, and as a trans person. His lyrics frequently talk about transformation and the natural world\, as well as how the expectations of others can’t change the true nature of things. \nDominic started his love of music at age six\, after his older brother had his first piano lesson. Dominic sat down at the piano and refused to move until he got a lesson as well. After years of exams with the Royal Conservatory of Music\, and graded performances at events like the Kwantlen Music Festival\, Dominic lost touch with what made him fall in love with music\, and discontinued lessons and performing in his early twenties. \nBut Dominic never stopped looking for that magic he felt when he first sat down at a piano. A magic he found again when he picked up a banjo for the first time six years ago. Dominic has since been composing and performing around Vancouver at street festivals\, in parks\, at open mics\, and wherever else he can find a place to share his music.

SUMMARY:Art Out Side: The Art of Letting Go
DESCRIPTION:What if the emotional baggage we carry had a physical form? This performance invites audiences to witness pop-up performances where solo artists and pairs appear unexpectedly across Port Moody\, each carrying helium balloons that symbolize their personal burdens. Through stylized physical theatre\, performers embody narratives unique to their characters—stories of loss\, fear\, overwhelm\, control\, and the struggle to let go. These spontaneous appearances build toward a culminating group performance in a shared space\, where all participants gather and\, in a final gesture\, attempt to release their balloons—an act of communal letting go. Ideally\, the final performance space will double as an interactive installation where members of the public can write down something they wish to let go of\, attach it to a balloon\, and add it to a growing sky of balloons. Over (potentially) the weekend\, the space will transform into a collaborative artwork built by the community—an ever-shifting sculpture that reflects the baggage we carry around with us in our everyday lives. This work brings together art\, theatre\, narrative\, and participation to ask: What do we carry? And what happens when we choose to let go? \nFollow No One’s Watching: \nWebsite: no-oneswatching.com \nInstagram: @noones_watching \n  \nLOCATIONS* \nPoMoArts \n2425 St Johns Street\, Port Moody \n‍ \nGrit Cafe \n50 Queens St\, Port Moody \n‍ \nLittle Beans \n70 Kyle St\, Port Moody \n‍ \nQueen’s Plaza \n49 Queens St\, Port Moody \n‍ \n* Happening simultaneously at different locations

SUMMARY:Art Out Side: 5 on A String
DESCRIPTION:5 on a String has been picking and singing bluegrass music all around the Pacific Northwest for over thirty years. We have a family-friendly show with plenty of hot picking and fiddle tunes to entertain just about any audience. Seniors love the old time theme and harmony singing\, and even the kids are attracted to the staccato sounds of the banjo and fiddle. We play and sing in the old time radio show style\, and we’ll get their toes tapping and hands clapping… Guaranteed. It’s been wonderful to perform all across B.C.\, Alberta\, and Washington state over the years and the friends\, fans\, and relationships we have shared are priceless to us. We’re thrilled that we can bring our brand of mountain music to Port Moody this summer. \nFollow 5 on a String online: \nWebsite: 5onastring.com \nInstagram: @fiveonastring
