ArtsConnect’s ArtsCalendar is a work in progress. Presently, we are working with a small group of arts organizations from across the Tri-Cities to develop the ArtsCalendar before we open up submissions from all arts organizations and we are not accepting direct submissions at this time. If your organization is interested in joining the ArtsCalendar in the future, please email your name, address, and a brief description of your organization to: [email protected]

This resource has been made possible through the financial support of ArtsConnect’s members. If you would like to support the further development, please consider becoming a member here: Membership

Artist Workshop | Painted Stories of the Moon with Jordanna George

Saturday, September 26, 2-4 pm

Join local artist Jordanna George for a creative, hands-on painting workshop inspired by lunar themes, reflection and artful response.

Follow Jordanna George to view their outdoor vinyl installation, Full Moon, then get inspired by thoughtful reflections on the moon in the art studio. This guided painting workshop will consider colour as mood and play with lunar themes and compositions in a circular frame.

Artists will create acrylic paintings on wooden panels that explore light and shadow, phases of the moon, and ideas of belonging and intuition with seasons of life.

Jordanna George is an artist of mixed T’Sou-ke and Ukrainian ancestry. Originally from Sooke, BC, they now live on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), səlilwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), and kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem) nations in Coquitlam, BC. They received a BFA from the University of Victoria in 2019, and have since been making comics and illustrations, exploring themes of identity, belonging and hope, and drawing influence from Indigeneity, queerness and science fiction. The rest of Jordanna’s artistic practice involves painting, printmaking and weaving. They can be found at jordannageorge.com and on social media as @raebirdart.
