ArtsConnect’s ArtsCalendar is a work in progress. Presently, we are working with a small group of arts organizations from across the Tri-Cities to develop the ArtsCalendar before we open up submissions from all arts organizations and we are not accepting direct submissions at this time. If your organization is interested in joining the ArtsCalendar in the future, please email your name, address, and a brief description of your organization to: [email protected]

This resource has been made possible through the financial support of ArtsConnect’s members. If you would like to support the further development, please consider becoming a member here: Membership

Exhibition Opening Reception

September 25, 2025 @ 6:00 PM8:00 PM
Free

Join us for an inspiring evening as we celebrate the opening of our Fall 2025 art exhibitions across Leigh Square’s galleries. Meet the exhibiting artists, enjoy live music and refreshments, and experience a powerful collection of works that reflect on nature, resilience, memory, and the human spirit.

Featured Exhibitions:

Weightless, I’m Still Here by KyungAh Hwang in the Michael Wright Art Gallery. Through ethereal floral compositions rendered in acrylic, Hwang explores the delicate balance between life and loss. Her luminous, floating imagery invites viewers to reflect on impermanence, grief, and the quiet strength found in nature—especially during moments of profound transition like the pandemic.

The Skin of Trees by Janna Kumi in the Outlet Gallery. This intimate series of drawings and collages celebrates the hidden beauty of tree bark—nature’s own skin. Focusing on tree species from across B.C., Kumi invites us to notice the quiet stories etched into their surfaces: of age, weather, damage, and healing.

Don’t miss Kumi’s artist talk at the City’s Cultural Roundtable on October 16.

Inspiring Local Champions: The Enduring Legacy of Terry Fox in the City Hall Gallery. This powerful display honors the life and legacy of Terry Fox, Port Coquitlam’s hometown hero. The display features images of Terry Fox that were previously shown at the Terry Fox library and the Port Coquitlam Community Centre. Developed in consultation with the Fox family, the exhibition reflects on Terry’s Marathon of Hope and his lasting impact on cancer research, youth, and community resilience worldwide.
