ArtsConnect’s ArtsCalendar is a work in progress. Presently, we are working with a small group of arts organizations from across the Tri-Cities to develop the ArtsCalendar before we open up submissions from all arts organizations and we are not accepting direct submissions at this time. If your organization is interested in joining the ArtsCalendar in the future, please email your name, address, and a brief description of your organization to: [email protected]

This resource has been made possible through the financial support of ArtsConnect’s members. If you would like to support the further development, please consider becoming a member here: Membership

FAMILY DAYS
at the Art Gallery at Evergreen

Join us for a creative family workshop inspired by the vibrant and expressive drawings of Sharni Pootoogook. Families will take part in a guided gallery tour to explore Pootoogookโ€™s storytelling through line, color, and everyday life, followed by a hands-on art activity in the studio.

Together, families will experiment with drawing and mixed media techniques to create artworks that reflect their own stories and experiences. Led by an experienced art instructor, this workshop encourages observation, imagination, and collaboration in a fun, welcoming space, perfect for families of all ages and skill levels.

All ages welcome!

ABOUT THE CURRENT GALLERY EXHIBITION

The life and work ofย Sharni Pootoogookย (1922โ€“2003), though still largely underexplored, draws clear and fundamental connections between first-generation artists inย Kinngait,ย Nunavut,ย and the current trends in Inuit graphic art. Her bold designs helped to shape and inform the course of Inuit printmaking during a period of great turmoil that threatened Inuit land,ย cultureย and traditional languages. Drawn from the Kelowna Art Galleryโ€™sย permanentย collection and supplemented by worksย on loanย from Simon Fraser University, Burnaby, this exhibition features works on paper thatย demonstrateย Pootoogookโ€™s trademark style of heavy linework and well-balanced design. Blurring the boundariesย between human and animal, the spiritual and theย physical, Pootoogookโ€™s work creates space for wonder and uncertainty.ย
